Acceptance Rules

  1. Notification by email or phone will be sent to artists by Saturday, September 12, 2009. Please note: The jurors decision is final. Quilts chosen must be received by QUILT VISIONS by October 24th, 2009. VISIONS Gallery will insure all accepted work while in its possession at 50% of the retail price and the declared insurance value of not for sale (NFS) works. Artists may be asked to justify the insurance value if required.
  2. QUILT VISIONS reserves the right to refuse to exhibit or to remove from the exhibition any quilt which is of poor quality, contains hazardous material or which has been misrepresented in the entry form or slides.
  3. Entrant is responsible for appropriate packing, shipping, and insurance in transit. Non–U.S. resident entrants may be subject to additional customs duty. QUILT VISIONS does not assume responsibility for customs or brokerage charges. Entrants shall reimburse QUILT VISIONS for any charges incurred. All quilts will be handled with extreme care and, when possible, returned in their original packing materials. QUILT VISIONS will pay return shipping and insurance to artist.
  4. Quilts must be available to QUILT VISIONS from October 24, 2009 through January 29th, 2010. Accepted works must remain on display for the entire exhibition.
  5. QUILT VISIONS encourages the sale of quilts. The Gallery will handle all sales arrangements and sold work will be available to the purchaser at the end of the exhibition. QUILT VISIONS will retain 50% commission on quilts sold during the show.
  6. Images of quilts chosen will be retained by QUILT VISIONS to be used for publicity and promotional purposes including website publication. Acknowledgement of the artist will be made in all such uses.
  7. The artist grants QUILT VISIONS permission to reproduce the images for promotion, publication and sale. The artist shall retain copyright of the work at all times.

By submitting a quilt and by signing an Entry Form, entrant agrees to all the terms and conditions set forth in these Acceptance Rules

 

Entry Rules

  1. You may enter up to three (3) cloth quilts by submitting the required materials. INCOMPLETE ENTRIES WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED. A set of coordinated pieces may be considered one work or entry. Each quilt must have a sleeve securely attached to the back of the quilt. Quilts that are 60 inches or wider must have a center opening in the sleeve to allow for proper hanging support. A second sleeve at the bottom is recommended for large quilts. DEADLINE FOR RECEIPT OF ENTRIES - JULY 18TH , 2009.
  2. Entries must have been completed on or after January 1, 2007. A maximum of one (1) quilt per artist will be selected. An entry is considered to be a quilt if it is composed of three layers, two layers of cloth filled with “batting material” and held together by “stitched” design. Quilts may be embellished with materials other than cloth. All entries must meet the definition of a quilt.
  3. The fee is $30 (US) for up to 3 quilts. Entries should be mailed to arrive at the Gallery no later than Saturday, July 18, 2009. Make checks or money orders payable to Quilt Visions. For entries outside the United States, an international money order in U.S. funds or Visa or MasterCard charge is required. If payment is not included, the entry will not be processed.

Members: $30 (US) for up to 3 quilts

Non-Members: $70 (US) fee includes a one year individual Quilt Visions membership.

  1. Images: All entries must include digital images in PC Compatible JPEG (.jpg) format on a compact disk (CD), which will not be returned. DVD discs will not be accepted. Digital Images must be submitted correctly; non-conforming images will be rejected. One full and one or two detail images should be included for each entry at 300 dpi; image size should be no more than 6 inches (1800 pixels) on any side. Images should be labeled with the first 2 or 3 words of the title and whether full or detail; e.g. for a quilt titled “Promises to Keep” the images should be labeled promisestokeepfull.jpg, or promisestokeepdetail1.jpg. CD’s should be labeled with artist name and title(s) of the art work and in protective cases. CD will not be returned.
    HINTS: High quality photography is essential for fair jurying. Use of a professional photographer is recommended. All edges of quilts must be visible. Photograph against a solid background with no props.
  2. Create a Word document with a brief (one or two sentences) artist statement describing the inspiration for each piece. Save the document to disc and enclose a hard copy with the entry as well.
  3. Mail hard copy entry form and payment of $30 to arrive no later than Saturday, July 18, 2009 to:

  1. If you'd like delivery confirmation of your entry, please enclose a stamped self-addressed postcard, or send using delivery confirmation receipt.
